Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation Aboriginal Medical Service provides culturally safe, holistic medical and clinical care to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of South Western Sydney. We provide a range of health services, including general practice, preventative health care, chronic disease management, health promotion, Specialists, Allied Health and much more.

New Patients – To register as a new patient of the medical service, you will need to call our medical reception or attend the service in person.

To become a client of our medical service, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Provide Confirmation of Aboriginality (or parent’s if under 18)
  • Complete a New Patient Form

Past/Reactivating Patients – If you are a past patient of our service, you will need to provide your Confirmation of Aboriginality (or parent’s if under 18) to access services.

What if I don’t have Confirmation of Aboriginality?

If you don’t have your Confirmation of Aboriginality, you may lodge your application through our Confirmation process and your eligibility to access services will be reviewed. For more information about Confirmation of Aboriginality, please visit here.

Appointments are available through medical reception. If you would like to make an appointment, please contact reception via phone or attend in person at the service. We do not make bookings via email or online enquiries.

Our Medical Service is appointment-based; however, we also have walk-in appointments available in the morning (9am – 12pm) and afternoon (2pm – 4pm) if you are unwell on the day. As a walk-in, you will be seen by an available doctor and may not be able to see your requested doctor.

Please note: waiting times may be longer, and a Nurse or Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner will triage you prior to seeing the doctor.

We provide transport services to clients that have no other means of attending medical appointments. To be eligible to access our medical transport service, you must meet all the below eligibility requirements:

  • Be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and
  • Have Confirmation of Aboriginality on file, and
  • Be over the age of 50, and
  • Have a disability and/or chronic disease, and
  • Live within the local Campbelltown LGA, and
  • Be a current and active client of the medical service, and
  • Have been assessed and approved by a Tharawal doctor and the Practice Manager for transport requirements.

Our medical service is a teaching and training centre. Due to this, you may be asked for your consent for a medical student to be present at your appointment. If you are not comfortable with a student being present or have any questions about the student being present, please inform one of our staff.

We are a Medicare Bulk-Billing practice. All patients must ensure they have a valid Medicare card upon every visit to the service.

If you require a referral to an external provider that charges a fee, or a pathology request that is not covered by Medicare, fees may be incurred at those providers.
