Bringing Them Home “ngayara wawi yura ngurra”
Bringing Them Home is a dedicated program to provide support to members of the Stolen Generation, their families and descendants by providing individual and group support by developing programs specially to suit the needs of the members.
Eligibility
- Must live within the service area of Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation, which is the local government areas of Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly.
- Been removed from family, community and/or country, due to past government policies of removal
- Had a parent removed (as above)
- Or had a grandparent removed (as above)
Service we provide
- Personal case management service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and descendants who are survivors of the Stolen Generation.
- Provide a brokerage service for clients, ensuring they have access to appropriate professional assistance.
- Referrals to services including Link Up NSW, Aboriginal Affairs NSW, Koorie Heritage Trust, National Redress Scheme, Stolen Generations Reparations scheme, mental health services and other relevant agencies
- Linking clients in with community events such as Apology Day, Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
- Where possible, assisting you to:
- Find out about your family
- To come to terms with who you are
Please note: The Bringing Them Home program does not offer a family research service, however, will support clients who are actively involved in their own research journey by providing resources and connecting them with other research services.
The Bringing Them Home Program does not provide Confirmation of Aboriginality, however, can supply community members with further information and assistance in relation to their applications for Confirmation of Aboriginality.
