Family Programs

Our playgroup/s encourage families to come along and participant in deadly activities that embed culture in a fun and culturally safe environment with mob. Come along have a yarn as well as being connected to community here on Dharawal Land.

We offer two playgroups per week on,

  • Wednesday’s playgroup is located at Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation, 187 Riverside Drive Airds. This playgroup in the Bullabulla Building.
  • Friday’s playgroup is located at Waranwarin Tharawal Child and Family Centre, 105 Townson Avenue Minto.

Both our playgroups provide healthy snacks and are supported with a combination South West Sydney Local Health District, Northcott Disability Services and visits from EACH.

Deadly Homework Club is a safe and culturally supportive program where school aged Aboriginal Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 can come along to complete homework. Children also participate in cultural activities that are engaging and interactive. Staff help and support children throughout this time. We offer three different Deadly Homework Clubs (DHC) throughout the week.

  • Monday’s DHC is located at Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation, 187 Riverside Drive Airds, in the Community Hall.
  • Tuesday’s DHC is located at Waranwarin Tharawal Child and Family Centre, 105 Townson Avenue Minto, in the Community Room
  • Wednesday’s DHC is located at Glenaquarie Library, 12 Brooks Street Macquarie Fields, in the Gamarada Ngura area.

Our Women’s Cultural Sewing Group is a group for Aboriginal women of all ages, Cultural Sewing group is also a great way for our to get out in the community to connect with each other including Elders. You can build on new skills, be creative or you might just be deadly sewers. We meet up each Tuesday at 10.30am at Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation, 187 Riverside Drive Airds, in the Community Hall.

Tharawal Family Programs, Holiday Activities is a great way for families to connect with your children and other families. Our program provides families with the opportunity to join deadly activities including high interest and cultural activities. All activities are free to attend.

Our family camp gives families the opportunity to come along to a 3 day weekend away, it’s filled with fun and cultural activities connecting with country and mob from the south coast. The weekend facilitates positive relationships with families and community.
