Good Tucker All Round
The Good Tucker All Round (GTAR), Fruit and Vegetable Delivery Program delivers boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on the Dharawal land in the Campbelltown Local Government Area. The program targets people with or at risk of chronic disease.
Program Aims
Program Aims
The GTAR program aims to increase understanding of the importance of eating nutritious food to help prevent chronic disease.
- Decrease in high fat, high sugar, high salt food consumption
- Increase fruit and vegetable consumption
- Increase uptake of health services and health checks
- Improved management of chronic disease
How does it work and what’s in the box?
A variety of fresh fruits and vegetables are bought from the local market. The produce is brought back to Tharawal, where they are packed into individual boxes by a group of volunteers. The boxes are then loaded onto our refrigerated truck and delivered to clients’ doors.
The type of fresh food in the boxes changes every week, with some regular items and others that are in season. Buying produce in season means they are cheapest and freshest.
