WHAT IS THE GOOD TUCKER ALL ROUND PROGRAM
The Good Tucker All Round, Fruit and Vegetable Delivery Program delivers boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on the Dharawal land in the Campbelltown Local Government Area. The program targets people with or at risk of chronic disease including cardiovascular disease, diabetes etc.
THE PROGRAM AIMS TO:
Increase understanding of the importance of eating nutritious food to help prevent chronic disease. Decrease in high fat, high sugar, high salt food consumption and increase fruit and vegetable consumption. Increase uptake of health services and health checks.
Improved management of chronic disease.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
A variety of fresh fruits and vegetables is bought from the local market. The produce is brought back to Tharawal where they are packed into individual boxes by a group of volunteers. The boxes are then loaded onto our refrigerated truck and delivered to clients’ doors.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
The type of fresh food in the boxes changes every week, with some regular items and others that are in season. Buying produce in season means they are cheapest and freshest.
As a Client you will be required to:
Complete the registration form upon signing up to the program.
Have an Aboriginal Health Check annually.
Be home at the time of delivery or contact us to make suitable arrangements prior as boxes can not be left if there is no one home.
Contact the team should there be any changes to your delivery address or contact details.
Make suitable payment arrangements.
Should you require assistance with food. Please contact (02) 4628 4837 to make an appointment for an assessment with our Social Support Worker.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The Good Tucker All Round program has shown to be a cheaper / easier way to improve daily consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Payment of $20 in advance, by Monday 3.00pm, for same week delivery is required.
