About Us

Through the Family Support Program at Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation we strive to give our families opportunities where parents and carers are invested in their children's lives from birth. Families experience positive programs and activities that improve and build on parents knowledge. This includes education and health with a cultural approach. We work with Aboriginal children up to the age of 12 years old.

Our Programs

Waranwarin Playgroup

This playgroup is based at Waranwarin Tharawal Child and Family Centre offering a wide range of activities. We provide a cultural environment where families can come and explore different aspects of play. In addition to this staff from the local health district visit playgroup providing information relevant for families.

Tharawal Aboriginal Play Links Playgroup

This playgroup based at Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation and supported by Northcott. Our playgroup provides health supports, educational activities where families feel connected. In addition to this we can link families to a variety of different services to help guide them with their children's needs.

When:  Every Wednesday during school term

Parenting Program

We offer a range of specific parenting programs that families are able to access including Triple P, 123 Magic. Our programs build on parent’s strengths whilst providing support and strategies that help parent’s skill and knowledge. Parenting programs happen termly at Waranwarin in partnership with our Brighter Futures team or through Catholic Care.

Cultural Sewing Group

Sewing group is where parents can come along and participate in practical sewing projects and learn new skills. The resources created are practical and always with an emphasis on culture.

When:  Every Tuesdsay during school term

Time:  10:00am to 1:00pm

Holiday Camps

We offer activities during school holiday periods that are cultural, fun and incorporate everyday skills and models positive parenting. The holiday programs are not just for our kids it’s for our families and we focus on family togetherness and positive experiences. Please contact if you would like more information on our holiday activities.

Family camps

Family Camps are an extension of our holiday program where positive parenting can be modelled in a culturally friendly environment. Parents and children have an opportunity to have a positive experience where life skills and parenting strategies are incorporated into all of the activities during the family camp. Camps are offered twice throughout the year.

Deadly Homework Club

The Deadly Homework Club is for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students from Kindergarten to Year 3 who need extra support in Numeracy and Literacy. Activities will focus on support strategies that will assist learning in a fun, interactive and culturally appropriate way. Students will also be able to get assistance with regular school homework during this time. We have three Homework Clubs that service Southern Campbelltown, Northern Campbelltown and the Wollondilly area.

The Centre has an open door policy and we encourage families to share any skills with our children. Families are also invited to participate in their children’s learning and development. The Centre is supported by services such as IPSU, DET, TAFE, and KU Inclusion Support Agency providing valuable resources and support plans to meet individual requirements of children with additional needs.
