WHAT IS THE GOOD TUCKER ALL ROUND PROGRAM
The Good Tucker All Round, Fruit and Vegetable Delivery Program delivers boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on the Dharawal land in the Campbelltown Local Government Area. The program targets people with or at risk of chronic disease including cardiovascular disease, diabetes etc.
THE PROGRAM AIMS TO:
Increase understanding of the importance of eating nutritious food to help prevent chronic disease.
Decrease in high fat, high sugar, high salt food consumption and increase fruit and vegetable consumption.
Increase uptake of health services and health checks.
Improved management of chronic disease.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Fresh fruit and vegetables is bought in bulk from a local market. The produce is then brought back to the Good Tucker All Round Centre where the fruit and vegetables are packed into individual boxes. The boxes are then loaded back on the refrigerated truck and delivered to your door! Buying in bulk at the market means you will get more produce for your $20 dollars than you would be able to get as one person at the local supermarket.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
The boxes have a mix of fruit and vegetables determined by what is in season, quantity, quality and price of produce at the markets. All the boxes will have the same amount of produce.
As a Client you will be required to:
Complete the registration form upon signing up to the program.
Have an Aboriginal Health Check annually.
Be home at the time of delivery or contact us to make suitable arrangements prior as boxes can not be left if there is no one home.
